Let us tell you a few things about us at Post 18. The total membership for 2009/2010 is 867, (827 Seniors and 40 Juniors). The membership dues are $25.00 per year. The meetings are held at the Post on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00p.m. You may become a member through your Husband, Father, Sons, Grandfather or Brother. This is the place for good fellowship; meet new friends and work on projects to help Veterans, Children of Veterans and our Post 18. We have a good group of gals involved in the organization, always open to new ideas and any help that can be offered.

Our main project for raising money at this time is working and helping with the Tuesday night Bingo. This project really helps in funding our projects through out the year. We may also have style shows, raffles and various other projects to raise money through out the year.

Now—let us tell you about a few of the many projects we sponsor through out the year.

---GIRLS STATE: Sponsor two girls teaching them about our  government and how it functions.

---EDUCATION GRANTS: Two grants are given which help toward financial assistance to the child in college.

---VETERANS HOME IN LAFAYETTE: Cards and a few extras are sent to the Monroe County Veterans who reside at the home.

---CHILDREN CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Post and the Auxiliary purchase gifts, wrap and sort them for our member’s children, and also work as Santa’s helper on the day of the party.

---THE AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY DINNER IN MARCH.

---THE AMERICAN LEGION MEMORIAL DAY BREAKFAST.

As mentioned before these are just a few of the projects we sponsor through out the year.

SO—why not come and check our lovely Post 18 home out at 1800 W. 3rd St., sign up and join in the fun. We would be very happy to have you as a member of our organization.
